Our Dentist
Dr. Charlotte C. Wiedenman is a lifelong South Carolinian with deep roots in Aiken and a long family history in dentistry. An eleventh-generation South Carolinian, she is proud to share that her fourth great-uncle was the second dentist to practice in Aiken—an early connection that quietly foreshadowed a career grounded in service, skill, and community.
Dr. Wiedenman earned her bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. During her time at MUSC, she was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award for excellence in both clinical and academic dentistry. She went on to complete an internship with the American Dental Association in State Government Affairs and served on the Joint Commission for National Dental Examinations, contributing to the advancement of the profession at a national level.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Wiedenman brings a uniquely broad perspective to dentistry. She has worked closely with dental manufacturing companies and has extensive experience in the dental insurance and benefits sector, including serving as an executive with Delta Dental. This background allows her to guide patients with clarity, transparency, and a deep understanding of both clinical care and the systems that support it.
Dr. Wiedenman’s favorite part of practicing dentistry is helping patients feel at ease—and delivering good news whenever possible. Her approach is thoughtful, conservative, and rooted in prevention, with an emphasis on comfort, trust, and long-term oral health.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Wiedenman is an historic preservation advocate, a devoted gardener, and a passionate student of South Carolina’s cultural and natural history. She is a Clemson Master Tree Farmer and a South Carolina State Master Naturalist, and she regularly speaks throughout the state on topics of historical and horticultural interest. When she is not caring for patients at Downtown Dental—located in a historic Winter Colony bungalow in downtown Aiken—she can often be found exploring backroads and backwaters, hunting for fossils and arrowheads, investigating forgotten sites, or delighting in the quiet beauty of old gardens and old houses.
Her curiosity, love of learning, and genuine interest in people shape every day at Downtown Dental, where patients are welcomed not just for care, but for conversation, connection,
